Join us as we explore the many treasures Mother Nature has cast in our paths this season. With a little imagination, we will transform ordinary nature into extraordinary art! We will transform river smooth rocks into painted sculptures, create stick snakes to ward off any unwanted guests in your garden, use “sticks and stones” to creative rustic picture frames, turn our findings into fun nature faces, and create whimsical mobiles that include some treats for our fine-feathered friends.

Painting is a language that allows children to express their ideas and feelings, and I support each child’s need to experiment when making art. Trial and error are necessary in all attempts at discovery and creativity. Therefore, art and the creative process can get a little messy. Please dress your young artist for the part.

Experience Music Together and find out how important–and how fun–your role can be! Clicker Training For Dogs

Have you taken your dog to training class or taught at home and wondered if you could get better results? Maybe you have questions as to why the things you do with your dog sometimes work but sometimes they don’t - and your dog can’t tell you why. Whether you’re new to dog training or have been training for years, you may be confused by the terminology and the reasons behind some of the things we do. Come to the Clicker Training for Dogs Meetup.com group and find out why! We’ll be going over Canine Learning Theory 101. You’ll learn how it works, why it works, and what you need to know about the underlying science to take you training to a new level. We will start out with a presentation on theory and have hands-on exercises for the humans- with FREE chocolate! We will discuss:
• Canine brains and how to teach them
• What motivates your dog - and what doesn’t
• Why saying “Sit” does not make your dog sit and what actually does
• Managing your environment for optimal learning
• How to get reliable behaviors from your dog
• What to do about “problem behaviors”- and what not to do
• The difference between Clicker Training vs. Training with a Clicker - and why it’s a big deal
We will teach you solid and easy techniques for training your dog using Operant Conditioning, commonly referred to as “Clicker Training”. We will show you how to use an event marker- a Clicker- correctly so that you get a “thinking” dog and will work without the presence of food and the clicker. This class will lay the foundation for our Level 2 class and enable you to understand any training you do on your own, whether in group or private sessions.

If you dog isn’t ready to perform in public- don’t worry- dogs aren’t required. Just a human who is ready to learn with other dog- loving Richmonders and have some fun! Along with our large dog owning group, we also welcome veterinarian employees, doggie day care workers, trainers and their students, pet sitters or anyone who works with dogs and wants to understand “why do dogs do that?”. This class is FREE and open to the public.
